I am in the process of setting up a cookery workshop which hopefully teach and demonstrate simple and easy cooking skills in a small and controlled enviroment. I am aiming it towards young mothers, children and teenagers firstly on a community level and hopefully to a higher level. I have some information printed and ready to go, and one or two contacts. But on a community level who would be the best people to approach, i have approached a few organisations but does anyone have any advice on who to approach

With more people staying in to save money I think its an idea that could do well. However I personally think you might be failing to focus on young couples (25-30). With money tight and stresses high I am sure that young couples are looking for something to do together which is fun and will save cash on eating out. Thats who I'd target.

With kids back to school in a few weeks I'd hit schools, a flyer on a notice board might draw the attention of parents dropping off kids. If you ran a day time workshop for them while kids are at school great, then focus on couples in the evening.

A lot of dads are stuck at home with the job scene how it is and learning to cook will help them feel useful. An evening class once a week for them will mean they can mix with people in a similar spot. Same goes for a singles workshop.

As I said I think its a good idea so if you want to bounce anything off me feel free to drop me a PM.

    Good luck with it anyway.
