Think this story could be closer to Cork than Dublin. I note TV3 has not given the politician's name yet, but call me on my hotline at €1.99 per minute and I'll tell all.

In fairness to the politician, obviously it's not their fault, but it's bad news they could have done without. Particularly when the politician has been outspoken on the issue of drugs in society.

Cork radio reporting it as well known Cork politician's son.

    Think name will follow.

Well, the report isn't saying if its a TD or Local Councillors son!!!

While its not the parents fault, when it some to being a public rep, sidestepping on an issue like this will not be good enough.

    I'll give you a clue. It's a TD alright.

As you say, is not the TDs fault of course, but it's very damaging. And it won't be the first time they've had to do a bit of fire fighting.

A certain councillors name has just popped into the frame.

edit - Oops that can be scrapped then

How come the Byrne didnt name the individual in the report?.... If I was a TD who wasn't "in the frame" (pardon the pun) I'd be very annoyed, as rumours flourish with such uncertainty!!!!

I've deleted any posts that named the politician in question. Until there's a statement from the person in question or at least an explicit naming from a reputable news source that I'm satisfied won't have the risk of this website getting sued you can't do that. Nor do the hint hint thing, we're not six years of age. Non-public figures that haven't actually been charged with anything are entitled to privacy of identity.

    That's fair enough.

It is carried in one tabloid, but know that other news sources have decided not to run with the name.
