Martial arts in Dublin

Hoping this is the right place for this thread...

Having just received my leaving results I'm confident that I'll be studying in Dublin next month and I am trying to find somewhere I can practice martial arts. In particular I want to find somewhere to study Kyokuchinkai karate and kendo that's close to Trinity (the college doesn't appear to have these clubs...). Can anyone offer any advice as to where this would be possible? I have experience in Kyokushinkai but none in Kendo save a passing interest.

Thanks in advance to all replies.

Wrong forum mate. However there is an MMA gym that specialises in Kyokushin Karate, kokoro I think its called. It is close to Trinity, maybe a 30 minute walk, it is in Drumcondra I think, or somewhere around Dublin 3/9. I think there is a kendo club in swords, I think there is only 4 or 5 kendo clubs in Ireland. Gear is very expensive, only worth your while if you are extremely passionate about it.

There was a lad teaching kendo in TCD last year but i think he's gone back to Japan. I'm not sure if the club (it was officially a society I think) is going to be taking place. While TKD and Shotokan are nothing like Kyukushin you should possibly consider boxing or judo, decent martial arts offered by the university.

There are KKS clubs in Finglans and Kilbarrack I think I'm not sure on details but a KKS / MMa club in drumcondra www.mmaireland.com which might suit you.

I knew this forum didn't look right but I couldn't find anything under "K" for karate and this was the only thing under "M". However now that I know I've found what I was looking for under "S".. sorry about that.

Thank you for your answers I will keep these in mind, but since I'm here would you please tell me what MMA is? It sounds interesting. I'm going to read what I can about it now but I find the best way to learn is from someone who is passionate about what they're talking about.

    Hi,

I am new to boards, but I am a massive MMA fan and have set up Ireland's first MMA blog. This is not shameless advertising but if anybody is interested can they check out:
