Wedding MC/bestman??

    Can anyone give me a run down of what exactly the bestman/MC is supposed to do at the reception?

    I was aware that the bestman is also the MC....but nobody know's what the MC role entails? :(

    I was best man at my brothers wedding last Thurs and there was very little MC'ing that I had to do. When you arrive at the hotel first, get in touch with whatver hotel staff member is in charge of proceedings. They will explain a lot to you and are very helpful.
    Basically you will be introduced as best man and receive a rapturous round of applause (hopefully). You then introduce any other speakers e.g. father of the bride, mother or father of the groom etc. and let them say their few bits. When everyone else has spoken you take the mic and show them how it's really done with a speech of pure comedic genius. Cue lots of drink being bought for you.
    That's all that's to it really. Don't worry about it. It's really just introducing the other speakers, if any. If there's a priest there you may be asked to call on him to say Grace before and after the meal. If there are any other announcements someone will whisper them to you and you just repeat them.
