If a person is just back in the country after several years abroad are they entitled to any sort welfare/assistance whilst searching for a new job back in Ireland ?

    Thanks

*Not sure if correct forum though welfare/revenue = tax

Of course as long as you are actively seeking work. You can get the Jobseekers Benifit if you have paid enough PRSI contributions.

If you dont qualify for the JB you can get Jobseekers Allowance which is means tested.

There can be a considerable wait for the payment to come through from when you apply, im not sure how long but around 2-3 months for some I have heard.
