Problems with Multimedia Hard drive

I have one of these HMB110 320 GB External Multimedia Hard Drive and when I connect to the computer I can see all the files. However, when I connect to the tv I can only see some of the files.

I have tried moving files out of folder and into the root - some will display but not all.

I have tried changing the number of folders etc - then some will display on the tv but not others.

I cannot manage to get all to display.

    Any ideas?

Hard to say without further info, but my first guess is that some of your files arent compatible.

Look at the properties of the files you can't see (container, video resolution, video codec & bitrate, audio codec & bitrate, etc) and compare them to the ones you can, it might help narrow it down.

Not sure if that is the problem because sometimes they will display and sometimes not... sometimes folders will display and sometimes different will display

So you are saying it is completely random? Sometimes a video will be displayed fine and the next time the very same video won't?

if you can - it might be an idea to copy all the material off the hard drive and give it a full format - nota quick one.

reload and see if the prob is still there.

thats all I can think of.

I have not had a chance to reformat drive but the problem has now escalated and nothing will appear once I connect to the tv. :(

If I reformat the drive, will I need the operating system to reinstall? I have searched the web for it but cannot find it.
