Looks tidy. Just do the usual checks on the service history and if possible get someone to give it a once over. A HPI check might not be any harm either

If you are going down the road of paying motor tax on a 2.0 litre you might as well aim for something from the next segment up imo. You will get better value from a bigger car:

You could only fit two dead bodies in the trunk.

Decent looking car, should serve you well given Toyotas durable reputation, again a history check for peace of mind is a must.

Id say you could do better mileage wise. 85000 miles is a lot for what your paying.

85000 on a 6 year old diesel is little over 14k a year which isnt too much above most cars yearly average mileage.plenty of miles left in it! There prob are lower mileage alternatives but will they be in OP budget?

I'd wait for the more refined and better equipped 2004 1.4 model to be honest. I'd say that one is the 89bhp 2.0 model anyway

Check that the flywheel isn't damaged (single clunking noise on startup would point to this)
Make sure the power delivery is smooth, you don't wanna replace injectors etc.

    op here

    cheers for the replies guys

also looking at these two as well particularly like the 1st one, although its priced high for private sale i think. the two cars are very comparable, only difference is 3, 5 door and the trade sale is priced lower.
