    Smackdown
SmackDown opens with the pyros going off. Big Show vs. Shad is on the card. They show a recap of Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk from last week.

    * CM Punk comes out for a promo. He shoots on Jeff Hardy before Theodore Long is able to come out and interrupt. CM Punk vs. John Morrison is announced.

    * Jeff Hardy's music hits and he comes to the ring. Hardy sells the entire time at ringside and can barely lift the title before leaving.

    * Dolph Ziggler b. Finlay. Mike Knox comes out and interferes and hits Finlay with his shelleigh. After the match, Knox beats down Finlay.

    * Kane has Ranjin Singh held captive backstage. He does a 24-style hostage video.

    * They do a Maria/Melina promo. It is announced Michelle McCool will return to SmackDown next week.

    * CM Punk b. John Morrison via pinfall.

    * Melina b. Layla

    * Cryme Tyme comes out for an in-ring promo. Huge chants for Chris Jericho.

    * Big Show w/Chris Jericho b. Shad w/JTG

    * The Great Khali is shown saving Ranjin Singh from Kane. Kane attacks him with a lead pipe.

    * Jeff Hardy vs. DH Smith & Tyson Kidd w/Natalya. The Hart Dynasty gets the biggest pop of the night.

    * Tyson Kidd & DH Smith w/Natalya b. Jeff Hardy when Tyson Kidd pins Hardy after a springboard clothesline. I'm told there was a massive pop for The Hart Dynasty. CM Punk comes out as does John Morrison. Morrison cleans house as Matt Hardy comes out and takes out CM Punk. Matt picks up Jeff as the Hardys celebrate with John Morrison to end the show.

    ECW
The pyros hit as the show opens with a recap of last week's Extreme Rules match for the ECW Championship

    * Shelton Benjamin b. Zack Ryder

    * Gregory Helms interviews Paul Burchill backstage.

    * Vladimir Kozlov b. Kevin Brooks (local worker). Ezekiel Jackson comes out for a face off with Kozlov.

    * Tommy Dreamer vs. William Regal is announced and a DeGeneration X vignette is shown.

    * Yoshi Tatsu b. Paul Burchill w/Katie Lea via disqualification. Katie Lea interfered to garner the disqualification, Hurricane makes the save.

    * Paul Burchill cuts a promo about ECW General Manager Tiffany.

    * Tyler Reks b. Tom James

    * Christian appears on The Abraham Washington Show. He makes it clear he and Tommy Dreamer are still friends. Christian threatens Washington. William Regal is announced as the number one contender for the ECW Championship. He comes out and confronts Christian.

    * William Regal b. Tommy Dreamer via pinfall. After the match, Christian hit the ring to save Dreamer from a post-match beat down.

    Superstars
Goldust defeated Sheamus. Big pop for Goldust and one of the best matches of the night.

John Morrison vs. D.H. Smith. They both got a great pop coming out, and another round of "Bret Screwed Bret". It was a decent match with Morrison doing his usual amazing self. He won after a great Starship Pain.

Mixed tag match: Mickie James and Kofi Kingston vs. Carlito and Rosa Mendes: Kofi and Mickie got some great crowd reaction. The match was alright, with most of the cheers going to Kofi and Mickie. Carlito and Rosa won, but it was mostly a one-sided match.

    More detailed from PW Torch
    WWE Smackdown/Superstars TV taping report
    August 11, 2009
    Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Report by Adam D., Torch reader

There were no dark matches before ECW and after ECW we went right into the Superstars taping.

    Superstars taping for Thursday's show

    (1) Goldust def. Sheamus via pinfall. It was actually not a bad match. Good back and forth action. Goldust won via pinfall, but I can't remember which finisher he used.

    Smackdown taping for Friday's show

Tonight's advertised matches include C.M. Punk vs. John Morrison and JTG vs. Big Show.

First, C.M. Punk came out and cut a promo telling us that TLC was not Hardy's specialty, but Punk has proven he's good with ladders, tables, and after last week, chairs. He assured us that Jeff Hardy would not make it to SummerSlam. Theodore Long came out and assured us Jeff would make it to SummerSlam and that he was here tonight (although unable to compete). Jeff Hardy came out to a huge pop and told Punk he'd make it to SummerSlam and that was the end of segment. Punk got tons of heat and Hardy as usual got a lot of cheers.

Backstage, Theodore Long received a call from Vince McMahon warning him that he was on probation. McMahon told Long that Hardy was to wrestle tonight.

I believe the first vignette of Kane and Rajin Singh aired here. I forgot to jot them down, but there were three vignettes of Kane talking in the camera similar to Joker in Dark Knight. The vignettes ended with Kane attacking Khali. They were forgettable.

    (1) Dolph Ziggler def. Finlay via pinfall after the Jumping Russian Legsweep. Big pop for Finlay. Mike Knox came down to ringside during the match and distracted Finlay during the end. At a point during the match, Ziggler did a baseball slide and actually got caught in the ring apron that drew a good laugh from the crowd. After the match, Knox attacked Finlay and gave him a side suplex on the steel stairs. He then grabbed a mic and blabbed about the spinal cord and how it hurts to be dropped on it. Go figure.

Backstage, Maria and Melina were talking about Ziggler and SummerSlam weekend. Layla then entered and Melina said they would settle something in the ring. Not really sure where it all came from.

    (2) C.M. Punk def. John Morrison via pinfall after the G.T.S. Crowd was alive for Morrison the whole match. Back and forth action with a lot of nearfalls. Punk did more heelish tactics which drew a lot of heat. He did a very impressive counter into the GTS to pick up the win.

A graphic aired which said Jeff Hardy would be wrestling in a two-on-one handicap match against the Hart Dynasty tonight.

    (3) Melina def. Layla via pinfall after the Primal Scream. Crowd wasn't into this match at all. A "Let's Go Oilers" chant broke out in the whole arena during the match. I wonder if they'll edit it out. Layla looked a little sloppy, but the match in general wasn't very good.

Next, Cryme Tyme came out and cut a promo against JeriShow. They said something to the effect of, it doesn't matter how many titles they've won, as it won't matter about SummerSlam.

    (4) Big Show (w/Chris Jericho) def. JTG (w/Shad Gaspard) via pinfall after a chokeslam. The match was the typical outing from both. Neither doing anything overly special or out of the ordinary. The crowd was chanting for Jericho the entire time anyways. Jericho did commentary for part of the match and then he pushed Shad into the steel post. After the match, Shad attacked Big Show and the two teams did a stare down. Crowd was chanting for Jericho the entire time anyways...

    (5) The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd & David Hart Smith) (w/ Natalya) def. World Hvt. champion Jeff Hardy via pinfall when Kidd pinned Hardy. Shocking to see the Dynasty go over Hardy cleanly. Hardy milked the chair attack from Punk last week all night. The crowd was hot for both sides, but mostly for Hardy due to all the kids there.

After the match, Hardy was down and C.M. Punk came down to deliver another beat down to Jeff. He grabbed a chair and was going to repeat last week when Matt Hardy came down to the ring to make the save to the biggest pop of the night in my opinion. Hart Dynasty got involved. A huge brawl started. John Morrison came down to help the Hardys. Dynasty and Punk stared down the Hardys and Morrison as Smackdown ended. Great brawl at the end. Good to see Matt as a face again.

    Post-show Dark Match

    (1) World Hvt. champion Jeff Hardy def. CM Punk in a steel cage match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship via pinfall. Short match. Hardy hit Twist of Fate and Swanton for the win in about three minutes.

    Other notes from the show

    - During ECW, I read a lot of people said the crowd was chanting "Rip His Head Off" during the Kozlov squash, but most people were actually chanting "You Can't Wrestle."

    - Crowd was huge into Shelton Benjamin.

    - Most people hated the Abraham Washington Show until Christian got there.

    - Jeff Hardy was easily the most over of the night, followed by Jericho, Christian, and the Matt Hardy save.

    - The most hated were C.M. Punk and William Regal.

    - Goldust got a lot of chants.

    - Most people didn't react to the Kane/Khali vignettes. Ranjin Singh revealed that he and Khali are brothers.

This has to be said. I HATE spoilers.....

But I LOVE to read them.

Anyway I tried not to read them but its too late now. I found a way to save some surprises for Friday, I trained my eyes to see the name CM-Punk first so I know whats going on with him and the WHC without ruining the whole Show for myself.

The Writing on smackdown, in particular the Jeff v Punk feud is very impressive.

    Enjoyed smackdown again.

Punk was even better than normal. His match with morrison was a top notch tv match

Is there a Punk McMahon alliance on the cards?

Jeff went a bit OTT on the tan this week. Enjoyed the hart dynasty change to their finisher. But I hope Kidd hangs onto is own sprinboard elbow drop.

Looking forward to next weeks 3 0n 3 match.

What happened the kane khali stuff. Did sky cut it out? Can't say I'm annoyed, the from the vault match was pretty good, Shelton v HBK. A nice reminder of how good both guys can be.

Yup really enjoyed SD this week and it was good for the HD to go over Jeff , could you imagine if it was on Raw they would have def lost. Is Matt gonna turn on Jeff again though? i could also see them to replace jeff if he decides to leave

    On ECW:

    I love Tatsu's music.

The Hurricane looks more frightening than I remember. Its like Batman post Dark Knight.

The Kozlov/Jackson program is a slower burning feud than Jericho/Michaels. Do something else, for God's sake!

Regal is a good opponent for Dreamer. Christian and Swagger tend to make Dreamer look slow and fat.

    On Smackdown!:

I love Punk. He's doing a great job replacing Edge. Hardy's "promo" was desperate, but no-one will care cus he's so red-hot.

Mike Knox sounds weird on the mic. Don't know yet if thats USP weird or bad weird. First bit of character development we've seen from him since he threw flowers at Kelly, which is good.

Layla has improved 100%, which means she's still about 90% shite. Melina should call her finisher the Leg Over.

Genuinely surprised to see HD go over in the main event. And to hear that they'll be in next weeks main event. Its bad booking to be honest. They've lost pretty much every match since coming to Smackdown!, and now we're supposed to believe they can hang in there with the maineventers?

Just thinking I really enjoy Punks new aggressive nature. I know his in ring work always had some hard hitting but JR and Grisham are doing a nice job putting over his new aggression.

Where was Mysterio this week? Also R Truth, both guys are performing well lately so I was sad not to see them on the show.

i think Mysterio is on a quick holiday , it was apart of his new deal that he will get more time off.

Of Good. They should give them all a week off every now and again.
