If you could push the boat out a little bit, the new Mizuno MX-700 is meant to be a great club. If gives a low spin and high launch off the tee, which results in longer drives. Its pretty forgiving too.

Its only €199 in McGuirks at the moment as well.

The 10.5 version appears to be the preferred loft, if you have trouble keeping the ball from slicing.

I used the square headed sumo and find it remarkably forgiving. Sometimes the ball looks like its about to hook or slice but for some reason it stays straight (play off 12 - and hit it pretty long). It sounds awesome aswell.

even my mates wonder sometimes if i have tampered with it.

The more loft a club has the more forgiving it is.
Have you tried using an 11 or 12 degree driver?
The longer shaft will mean the ball will still go further than a 2/3 wood.
How are you with a 3 wood anyway?

Get yourself a Cobra Driver! Most forgiving club I have ever purchased (and I need one)!!

Thanks for all the replies lads so I spent all day yesterday hitting woods in three different stores and settled on the Mizuno it really is nice and feels good. Never drove so fast to get to the driving range, was surprised how well I could hit it, its really forgiving as I expected to be all over the place.

As I said I am left handed and it is pulling to the left but I have been reading all morning and have a plan to correct it, off to the range again. My OH already hates the club as I was told I spend more time with it that her over the weekend :D

PS got a really good deal on it, cost €199 and got a cleeveland 3 wood thrown in too, it was in Navada Bobs in Cork they have some great deals there at the moment.

I think you mean pushing to left or pulling to the right seen as your left handed.

Ah ok well pushing to the left then, the strange thing is when I was at the range and hitting off the tee on the grass it was straigh-ish but when on the mat and hitting off the rubber tee it always went left, is this caused by anything in particular?

oh and things were going fine until the family of 5 came along and thought it would be great to start doing happy gilmore shots and then roaring at each other laughing it was mental had to pack up and leave.

How about a TaylorMade Burner? I hear they are going very cheap atm, inside your budget too.

Already got the mizuno but tried the taylor made and it was nice too but the mizuno had really good better reviews so went for that plus i got the free 3 wood which sealed the deal

Or a 13 or 14deg? Even more forgiving. Depending on your swing speed probably no loss of distance - more likely an increase. AND more forgiving.
