New Nike Driver

I got fitted for a new driver in the Spawell over a month ago. Ordered it and it hasn't arrived yet. Left a €100 deposit. I'm being spun all sorts of stories.

He says it has to be made in a Tour van etc because of the shaft. Was told that the head had to be made in the Nike factory and it was sent to the tour van for the shaft... Surely this is bull. Sure the heads are already made.

I see the bar part of the Spawell has shut down. I wonder are they stalling me until the place goes bust?

Surely it shouldn't take over a month to get a driver made up?

Is that the new driver with the Str8 Fit technology? If so, its not like its being assembled on a factory floor somewhere in the normal fashion.

The club is designed to have interchangeable shafts, so it should be just a case of getting the head, and inserting the shaft into it using the wrench that comes with the club.

It sounds like he's impressing you with the "getting built in the Tour Van" hype, just to throw you off the scent. Tour spec equipment is specifically for the pro's, and is assembled in the tour van for pro's only. The components we get are manufactured in China/Taiwan but Nike should have some European base from which to dispatch any orders to Ireland/UK etc.

I'd look for a refund if your instinct tells you something isn't right.

Thanks for the info. He is wasting his time, as I'm not at all impressed by this stuff.

It's not the one with the adjustable head. It's the one with the fixed head - the SQ Dynamo. It's some kind of extra-stiff shaft, which the Nike guy who did the fitting told me was more expensive. But it's a different guy selling me the club.

Maybe he's completely legit, but there are a few things not right. I'll go there today.
