SWAPPING & COPYING MUSIC LIBRARIES & THE Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA)

This may be totally the wrong place for this question. If so, apologies & feel free to move it. I couldn't find anywhere else for it.

I store all my music on an external hard drive, just short of 140 gb's of music. A friend of mine has even more, over 200 gb's & we've been talking about getting together to copy each others music. Does anybody know just how dodgy is this??

A year or two ago I wouldn't have cared less but I read something about an Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) between Canada, USA & some EU countries wherein border control/customs could soon be able to check ipods, mp3s, hd's, laptops etc for copyright infringements on softwar, music, film, etc. The article was quite short & vague but I travel a good bit & bring my HD/laptop/iPod with me most of the time. How illegal is copying someone's music collection? What if he gave me his CD collection instead? Can there really be a difference when it's digital?

My friends 200gb's of music is calling me....

I would take that with a big pinch of salt .

If customs officials were to examine your ipod or laptop , music is the last thing they are looking for .
