Moon looking like Mars !!

    Just took these photos in Barcelona tonight at 11.30 PM Local time (10.30 Irish)

    Looking very redish , is there a partial eclipse ? or is it just cos it was low in the sky ?

    The atmosphere scatters light from the Moon. The more atmosphere you look through, the more light is scattered, and the shorter (bluer) wavelengths get scattered first. Therefore, the more atmosphere you look through, the redder the Moon looks.
    At the horizon, which is probably where you're seeing it tonight it's about full and big and bright and scattering lots of light - so it looks red. It won't look so red later tonight when it's higher up in the sky.

    thats true !! just checked looks normal now..... also the fact that there is plenty of pollution in Barcelona probably adds to it ..
