I guess i dont know where to start. I am married and have been for 7 years. I am 26 and husband is 36 and we have two children and I have found out i am pregnant and he has for quite a while mentally and at times physically abused me. He puts me down and is very controlling. He can change so easily and I feel so alone. I want to leave but dont know how and am scared of his reaction as he told me we belong together and never to walk away. I am so lonely and scared.

Well done for taking the first step to help yourself and your children, that is incredibly brave. What are your circumstances? Do you have family or friends you could talk to?

    Hi OP,

Sorry to hear about your situation. Firstly, this isn't a marriage rut - it's an abusive relationship and you're making a brave decision to get out of it for the safety of you and your children. I know it may feel like you've nowhere to turn to, and you're worried about his reaction, but you need to get out of your situation before it escalates, especially as your pregnant. Like the previous poster said, is there any close friends or family that you could turn to? I'm not sure of your location but there's bound to be a wives shelter or home nearby that you could turn to for support and assistance in this difficult time. I know of a place in Cork, PM me if you need details.
