    Hi

First thing you do is go to your local employment partnership. Tell them you are starting a business and want to switch from jobseakers benefit to back to work enterprise allowance. This is the scheme that allows you to keep your benefits while working towards setting up a business.

Do not register as self employed or for VAT until you have sorted this out as to do so makes you ineligable for the scheme. Once you are registered, buy the equipment and claim back the VAT.

Second thing - get yourself an accountant:D
