    Hi there,

Just throwing around ideas at the moment but myself and the bf hopefully going travelling next year and we're half thinking of whilst in thailand doing a muay thai summer camp for a couple of weeks. I have done MMA for about 2yrs almost 4yrs ago, himself has no experience in it.

1-Is this a good idea for someone with no previous MMA experience? Will be making sure to be v.fit prior to camp if do decide to go.
2-Is 2 weeks enough or would you need to be there a month to get the most out of it?
3-Any recommendations on places/actual camps or know anyone who has done this?

    Any info would be great,

    Cheers

To be honest I find it amusing that so many people want to just jump straight in at the deep end and START any Muaythai training IN Thailand, particularly when there are so many excellent instructors right on your doorstep HERE in Ireland. In fact, Rob Ng runs a club in Limerick and he used to help run the WMC camp in Ko Samui. Don't get me wrong, I DO think training in Thailand is a great idea but you'll get so much more out of the experience if you've trained a little first.

As Dave says, you'll benefit greatly from getting some fitness and / or experience in before you head over. I can't imagine how much of a mess I'd have been if I hadn't trained at all before going over there.

To answer your other questions: The longer the better IMO. On camps, have a search back through this forum. There have been a few threads with recommendations.

They're going for a holiday remember.

I definitely recommend you start doing the thai between now and then so you'll get more out of the camp but otherwise there are plenty of touristy camps you can train in and enjoy yourself too.
