Quic legal question

I may soon be moving to Belfast (from SE England) and while the new place is being finalised, our stuff (more than likely including my guns etc) is gonna be stored at the In Laws' house in Offaly (how awful, a perfect excuse to get in a little CQB in Galway).

Am I right in thinking that the proposed legal restrictions for importing imitations aren't in place yet?

Also, I've got an imitation Bren which is totally inert (literally a solid lump of steel - sooner or later it'll get converted for airsoft). What's the situation regarding such imitations? I never really has the necessity to fond out when I lived at home.

To the best of my knowledge, you'll only have an issue if any of your airsoft guns are shooting over 1J. If this is the case, according to the law, you'd be importing a firearm. Otherwise, you're A OK, I believe.

I don't see an issue with the Bren, but I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong!

I'd not touch the bren hon. Converting a deact to fire anything again is illegal... with a fairly long prison term, In belfast... thats UK law... the republic? im sure a legal expert here could say... but i dont think its favourable...

Be very careful with this, Ireland is a strange place when it comes to old firearms filled with led, I'd advice calling the local cops in the area for direction.

Like I said, it's an imitation... It's not a de-ac, it's made from a solid lump of mild steel and some galvanised tubing.

As long as it's an imitation and not a deac, it should be fine. Just don't wave it around in public, and make sure your AEGs are under 1J.

If you're bringing it over on the ferry, you should still declare it to avoid any problems.

Northern Ireland has a "One joule Rule", just like here, so you'll have to downgrade guns if necessary and leave them downgraded unless you bring them back to the offshore island ;) to play.

You'll like Galway, I'm looking forward to playing there some time.

Cheers, I though that was the case alright...

I've only got one AEG which might be a little warm but it's an easy spring swap to get it down again...

What's the deal with pistols? As obviously some can could be made to fire over 1J with the right gas. Is it a case of just don't use the stronger gasses or is it a case that potentially too powerful pistols aren't allowed?

but i dont know what this 'green gas' is officer?

To be honest, most pistols wont top 320 on green in this climate. Just dont buy the ones that do. or use weaker gas.
