I have a friend who loves helicopters and I'd love to arrange for a helicopter ride for her upcoming birthday.

Does anyone know of a company that would do this? She lives in Wexford.

are you looking to organise a helicopter tour, helicopter lessons or commercial helicopter (so friend can take pics of the city etc)

best way to find out locally would be goto (or phone) nearest airfield and ask if theres anyone there that does helicopter tours/lessons etc.

with the lesson friend can fly the helicopter.

Note: Helicopter companies take 10-15mins and claim its take off and landing time...so air time isnt as much as you think.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to just rent the 'copter for an hour and it really doesn't matter where it goes when it's in the air.

I'm just a bit worried that, because it's not near a city, they'll charge for the time it takes to get there and back to the depot. Which makes sense but means it would push up the price.

Maybe a better idea would be to book a short tour and take her to wherever the helicopter is.

Make sure whoever you use is licensed to carry passnegers for reward. Ask them have they an AOC. Unless of course they are friends of yours and are bringing you up for free.

Ring a few places from the golden pages. Roughly it will cost you in the region of a 1,500 euro (at least), if you're looking for an hour. It would be so much cheaper if you bought him a couple of lessons or even still get half an hours flying for approx. 800euro.
