Dashboard Widgets - what do you use them for?

Just wondering if I am the only one who never really found a regular use for the Dashboard Widgets. Apart from maybe iStat and web clips(which I have pretty much stopped using in favour of going back to bookmarks), I pretty much never use dashboard.

I'm just wondering are there any nice widgets out there that really justify dashboards existence!

I use the unit converter and currency converter fairly regularly. The weather forecast is on there too but it's always so depressing.

I have had my ups and downs with widgets, but i eventually went back to less being more.

aside from the 4 default widgets, I use an iTunes controller, radio station player, iTunes lyrics displayer (for whatever song is being played) and a HP took for monitoring ink levels in my printer. Oh and iStat too

Apart from iStat,don't use them!
What is a pain in the behind is the stickies widget!
I find notes really handy on the iPhone,it's a pity that they can't be synced with stickies

I never use them.

Since the Dashboard and it's widgets eat up a fair share of memory I just completely disabled the whole thing.

For unit conversion, google is handy as anything.
Hard to beat met.ie for the weather forecast, i used to have a web clip of their rainfall radar on dashboard, but i just use bookmarks these days for that. When you open dashboard for the first time, The wweb cip gets the latest from the page, but after that you have to refresh it manually with a cmd+r when you want to see the up to day version, mush easier to just use a bookmark!

How does the itunes controller offer benefits over just using the controls in itunes itself, or the hotkeys on the keyboard?

For stickies I use the regular built in stickies app, never got used to the dashboard ones.

C'mon, there has to be some killer app for dashboard!

I use the Weather, Currency converter, Dictionary and Stickies widgets a fair bit. The only 3rd party ones I really use are iStat Pro (couldn't live without it) and Delivery Status.

The iTunes widget is kinda useless. It's too slow and unresponsive. It's not a widget but I use CoverSutra instead which I find excellent. I use one of my mouse buttons to activate it. I recommend it for anyone looking for an iTunes controller.

I never really found any use for Web Clips. Kinda forgot about it tbh.

I still think Dashboard is a great feature but it's probably in need of an upgrade at this stage.

Hate using Dashboard for the first time after a reboot. Then again, quite a few widgets!

Have Safari's screen snippet thing in there pulling the 'now and next' from Teletext. Find this very handy.

Really like iStat.

Calculator, cos you can copy paste from/to it
Application update to check to see if apps are up to date
