I doubt it. How do you mean it died? Does anything come on the display? Any feedback when its connected to your PC?

It just powered off. Was fully charged and I was doing the uasual morning paper browsing. It done this once last week but it came back on eventually by holding down the top button. Today nothing...dead as a Dodo. I'm off to carphone warehouse on grafton street. Should be interesting. Nothing either when connected to PC..just tried it.

I had an iPod Touch that did that on me, sent to Apple and was replaced for free.

I suspect that Carphone Warehouse will send you to Apple and to be honest you are probably better off. Apple have a great aftersale service and will turn this around for you really quickly. . If CW say they are going to take it in and have it checked out, resist . .it will be much quicker to deal directly with Apple . .

That said, if they behave as they should they will just replace it there and then !

+1 for going to Apple first.

Have you tried holding down both the home and sleep button simultaneously? Or hooking it up to iTunes and trying to backup?

OK, The Girl in Carphone Warehouse in Grafton St just hooked it up to a PC and reboothed. Apparently when your Iphone goes dead, that’s what it needs. I’m an Iphone and Apple newbie so this was news to me. I didnt wait long enough when I hooked up to my own pc.

Great that you got it going again, but this shouldn't happen and it does indicate some sort of fault with your iphone . . . I would use itunes to restore the software so that you remove the potential that this was a software issue then, if it happens again, I would get straight onto Apple Support
