Dave playing catch-up... EDGE for iPhone 2G? (PAYG, Meteor)

    Hey folks,

I've had the 1st gen iPhone (unlocked) for a couple of years now, and just using wifi has been grand for the most part, since so many people have wireless in their houses, plenty of shopping centres, etc.

But I wouldn't mind being able to get the interweb when in the pub or somethin :p

Would anybody be able to tell me how to activate EDGE? As I understand it, Meteor aren't too helpful when it comes to iPhones, but there's a way to do it.

Also, how much does it cost per minute? I presume it just takes it from my phone credit.

Thanks for any help, I realise that I'm a little behind :p

You don't need to activate Edge, but you do need a data bundle added onto your account by your operator. They won't charge you per minute though, you'll get an allowance per day, it's usually 50mb for a euro, and when/if you surpass that you'll be charged per kb.
Here's a link to some Meteor info, if you're with them:

Just being a tiny bit pedantic here, given, as you say, Meteor aren't the best when it comes to data/iPhone. You actually need to ask for data to be enabled on your account. Technically, you only subscribe to a bundle on bill-pay.

Also, you will most likely need the settings from the sticky at the top of the forum.
