    Postage is another £8 though.

It's essentially a hub for USB connectivity. If you've only one HDMI connection on your TV or monitor, this allows you to have another 2.

If you have one HDMI port on your tv but you also have an xbox with hdmi, dvd player with hdmi and your sky box has hdmi connections, you can plug all three hdmi connections into this box and one in to your tv. When you want to toggle between your tv, xbox or dvd player, you use this box to swap the connections, or switch between them without having to unplug anything from the tv.

    .

I didn't spot that. Anyway, I have never had a problem ordering stuff from Hong Kong.

I regularly buy from hong kong on ebay and it often gets here faster than from the uk!

Nope, mine hasn't arrived yet either. Going by how long stuff normally takes to arrive from hong kong though, I'll be expecting it middle-end of next week.

would be really interested in this if anyone gets their delivery..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Spotted one reduced in my local Argos from €79 to €29 at the weekend..

Only one left in a Bargain Bin but didn't think it was bad value for a B&M store.

Don't need any more HDMI ports myself (one in use by PS3, one in use by Media Drive) - can't foresee anything else I'd need it for (unless I upgrade to Sky HD).

Does it cause any loss in picture quality?

Ordering from Hong Kong can be fine, it all depends on whether you find a decent seller for the item(s) you're after. I bought some stuf for my DSLR from a Hong Kong seller and everything was/is hunky dory.

Just read the feedback, look at how much the item is going for, how much postage they are charging and you should be grand.

Any idea if this can be powered by the HDMI cable or does it definitely need a mains cable to power it?

No need for power leads it only transmits a signal, just battery for remote to change hdmi source.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,225 ✭✭✭Scruff

Wrong. Look at the pictures, there is a 5v DC input beside the HDMI out.

remote and supports auto switching. If the remote codes could be learned by my harmony remote it would be interesting.

I think you will find i'm right look at boxes says "no power needed" and No power needed(if using standard equipment, otherwise power needed) I am assuming people will be using this for standard HDMI connections.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,225 ✭✭✭Scruff

God bless your eyesight :D Took a while for me to spot that. What do they mean by "if the input equipment is standard"? I didnt know hdmi also provided power like a usb cable.
So does anyone actually have this switch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,713 ✭✭✭branners69

Cheers Ninty, just ordered one there.

I have a different 3 way hdmi switch which is powered by the hdmi device, Tvix Media Player, Humax HDR box or AV Receiver. I need another for the bedroom so the one Ninty linked to should do the job!

Did anyone recieve the switch that the OP mentioned in the 1st post.

I have not recieved it yet.

Might contact them later for a refund.

Give it a chance- I'd allow at least 3 weeks......

I've gotten all sorts of stuff from Hongkong (including samples of processors from the nearby Intel Fab)- if you want peace of mind- get a recorded delivery- but at these prices, whose going to argue?

Get onto the seller in that case. Worst case scenario- he reships- it was worth a punt at that price anyhow.

His ebay shop is closing down - no more items.

and all his last few sales were private. :(

no use leaving negative feedback - he does not care anymore. :D:D:D
