    Hey,
I've been looking everywhere on the internet but shipping is either way too much or the price is just off the wall, like on adverts, some people trying to sell megadrive games for 20 euro a pop:confused:

I'm trying to find anyplace in Ireland that has at least a few retro games, I'm down in waterford and theres sweet eff all down here, apart from a snooker game for the snes in cash converters, I wouldnt mind going for a spin to cork or somplace close for a few games! I'd be in dublin once and a while aswell

Could any of ye let me know if theres anyplace around? i'd even settle for a good selection of ps1 games at this point but megadrive and snes is what im after

Adverts.ie, the best place for picking up this sort of thing, and enough folk around to give advice so you don't get burned.
Just read the rules so you don't get banned, like I did!

cash converters in cork on mccurtain street can be good at times, think they still have a 5 euro mint copy of streets of rage 2 actually, id snap that up if i didnt already have it. they have a decent selection of xbox1 and gamecube games at the moment too.

as discussed in another thread here, centwise in cork has an amazing selection but they are fairly unreasonable price wise.

definitely ebay if you buy a few games off the seller, Usually there is an offer button and if you buy a few you can knock in a load of offers, the seller will usually accept offers if your buying 3 or 4 carts

    http://stores.shop.ebay.ie/NINTENDO-GAMES-FAST__W0QQ_armrsZ1
ah flicking through this sellers snes carts brought back some memories, cant believe the amount of them games I actually owned or friends owned, nearly them all lol, Why I ever sold my snes I don't know, best console ever made imo

Adverts used to be decent but now all the adverts are "Snes with one game 150e". I dont know what world some of these people are in charging silly money for SNES and megadrives.

Tell me about it. I've been scouring adverts for weeks to try and cheap or broken NES to make one of these. But there's no way I'm spending more than 20 quid for what I'll essentially be using as a plastic case.

Adverts is waaay over the odds.

I used to buy alot on ebay but it all adds up to be just "expensive" as some of ye put it on here.

Like my neighbour has a sega mega drive,4 controllers,a multi tap,21 games(all boxed except one and all nearly with manuals).Looking for 140 euro as thats what I advised him and I go by what the items are individually on ebay.To get a package like it on ebay, you would pay about 200 quid with postage as you nearly always get it from the UK.Things are still cheaper on adverts.ie...I know because I gave up ebay as it was costing me a fortune!!!

There's a shop on North Main st. In Cork that sells a load of PS2, PS1, SNES and N64 games. They also sell a lot of consoles like gamecube, NES, SNES, Atari etc.

    Worth checking out.

yeah i know what you mean, i messeged a shop selling ps1 games, i wanted to buy 10 games off him at about an average of 12 euro each, which i know is expensive but they were some games i really wanted so i was willing to pay but he expected me to pay £5.35 for the first game and £2.50 for each game after just for the postage! and with no bit of discount for the ammount of games i was buying off him!

I looked in the shop in Cork, yeah it is good but really expensive, its like 90e for a Megadrive, i got 2 of them, boxed and with a few games for 50e a while back!

Is there a thread for the best shops on ebay or other online sites to get games from in this section?

If you do get a NES I'd happily take the innards of you :P

Theres bookmart/game exchange on Talbot st in Dublin but not a great selection and it is expensive. Expect to pay minimum 10-15 per game and 50+ for consoles

Im moving to York on Sunday and I know a shop there that sells tonnes of retro games, more than I've even seen here! It included GameGear, GameBoy, NES, SNES, etc. games. He was even selling an XBox with some games for just 20 GBP

    :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

If that was over here they'd be too scared to sell anything jsut incase its worth money so they just charge a sh1t load for everything...just incase! :p

well if im ever going to york i know who to talk to lol

I'd love to open up a retro shop, and I'd charge fair prices too! I plan on moving to Japan when I'm older so I could sell import stuff aswell.

I find ebay to be the best bet, the amount of sealed dreamcast games I got for 4 sterling its not even funny.

Yeah I know wtf! Some of it's crazy. There's fellas buying up console bundles while they're already selling two of them! I was wondering would a seperate Retro Adverts similar to the Cycling onebe of any use ?

Yeah try out Adverts but what your money, some crazy asking prices on there! One guy was looking for 15-20quid for a PS2 game I got in Gamestop for 7. A while ago someone gave away some N64 games for free

That mightnt be a bad idea, only thing is that i would assume most people here are collecting without the intention of selling again any time soon, but still though it could be worth a try, kind of like the forums over at racketboy.com

www.collectorscardsandgames.com/ great site if your buying a good few games at a time, worth emailing them with a list of what games you want cause they tend not to advertise everything they have.

Thanks for that link, Snesman. I'd never have guessed from your username that you're a retro gaming person! ;)

One of the first games that took my eye on that site was Tazmania Devil (Mega Drive)... ...such great memories

    ..ooo, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSK1Ah1SzyQ&feature=related

Ya the name gives nothing away :P

Not so sure about tazmania Devil, but each to his own I suppose.............

Any other good sites to get retro games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,103 ✭✭✭mathie

I'ev some retro consoles and games on adverts.
    Just check my sig.

Saw that, he advertised for €50 as a rare game, rare my arse but took a fiver in another ad for it:confused:
The price some people are looking for stuff that isn't rare, old or hard to find is unreal,
I can agree with prices being high for a console with 10-20games included/boxed/etc

Goatstore.com is another very good site, but again you have to be ordering a few titles for it to make sense

Mod edit: removed quoted sales post

I think you need to use the Arcade and Retro Marketplace for any sales and the odd comma wouldn't go astray.

No selling games in the main forum.
    Please read the forum rules.
We have an Arcade and Retro Marketplace specifically for the purpose of selling such items to each other.
Anyone ignoring the rule and this Mod instruction will be infracted.
