    Hi

I have been out of work since I closed my shop down in jan and a friend of mine rang me this evening to tell me about a job going where she works ( the job would be sending emails answering calls if need )
the problem is that I have never been out of work b4 so my cv is well not really there to be honest. I worked with Barretts shoes as a retail manager for 10yrs b4 opening up my own place. It has all changed so much. I started to do up my cv and I have not a clue what to put in it ...eg objective ...what do you put there ???
I really want to get this job this staying at home is doing my head in
so all help really really really needed
    Thanks :D

    lie ha
put things in greater detail so they sound better. Add little things on here and there. all job experience is the most important thing. like where you have worked. mention you opened your own shop but becoz resession you closed down. youd really like the job and all that.

    hope this helps

Loads of sites on internet with CV templates, just a matter of taste (and avoiding those who charge!)

    Try this one...

    http://www.armchairadvice.co.uk/findingwork/cvadvice.asp

Toughest part is to write your profile - take your time on this and again search the net for CV profile for advise and profile.

When finished check and recheck the spelling before you send off.

A really good reference book (check Amazon) where's my oasis by Rowan Manahan - loads of great advice on job search and CV writing etc - it is also written for our market (not America).

Good luck hope something here helps!

Make a list of all the things you had to do to run the shop ie:

    stock control

    dealing with suppliers and customers

    budgeting and cashflow

    Employee management

If you are broke the library should have a CV book to help with words to use to describe your skills and give you ideas for layout. If the library is too far away go to one of those lovely bookshops with a coffees shop.

I used to work in recruitment and while working in recruitment I learned a bit about writing a good C.V.

I used this knowledge to get out of the recruitment business but as proof of what I've learned I have gone from making €25,000 to €50,000 inside of three years.

The advice I could give would take pages, and frankly I am too lazy. To do this properly I need a night and all the documentation you could get together... I wouldn't charge for my time. PM me.

Don't leave out any information however insignificant you may think it is it could be that piece of information that gets you the job. Software you've used, training you've done, or any mentoring you've done.

Your C.V. should tell a story. When describing your work experience think: where, who, what and when.

    example:
Here at Widget Inc. I worked on a team of 5 consisting of two senior widget makers, myself, an assistant manager and a regional manager. I was responsible for widget design and widget making. I mentored junior staff and widget making and documented all widget making design processes

Bullet point your specific job duties however boring. Best way to do this is think about your average day or average week.

Again, I'd be happy to help you for free. Just PM me.

    Best of luck.

    Interview tips:

    Make eye contact.
    Smile.
Be the guy people want to work with.
    Be professional.
Wear a suit, a real suit.
    Wear a white shirt.
    Polish your shoes.
Get a hair cut, even if you don't need one. It'll make you look sharp.
Be honest, but detailed regarding your C.V.
Don't sit too relaxed, it will make you seem cocky.
Most importantly... read the job spec back him, but not verbatim. Take what you've done in previous jobs and apply it to what his job spec asks of you.
