MS Word problem

Recently when I start MS Word it minimises to the right hand side of my screen and no my task bar is not on the right it's at the bottom of the screen.

So far I have not been able to maximise the window to the desk top or even restore it.

I've run a virusscan, win defender also, I've re-installed Word and still no joy - this also happens with Notepad.

I'm currently running XP Pro SP 3 with Office XP Pro I could do a rebuild but don't really want to .

Any of you had this happen, any of you got a suggestion ?

Can you put up a pic or screen grab to show exactly what you mean?

Google Docs for backup in the meantime I'd say.

It sounds like you have a macro which kicks in once you open the program (AUTOEXEC macro) or when you open any document (AUTOOPEN macro).

You could try deleting your 'Normal.dot' (MS Word template). This may get rid of the current template. When you open word the next time, the program will create a new template which (hopefully) won't be infected with the macro.

If it is a macro - not sure about notepad - holding the ESC key while word opens should halt it running. This will allow you to go in and edit the macro directly, if it is a macro...
