Apologies if this has been posted before but it didn't come up on a search. I refuse to have a DD for Sky due to previous grief & I pay by credit card. I was away & the service was disconnected because of one outstanding bill. When I called to pay I was told that I either had to agree to a direct debit or pay the bill plus an additional month in advance by credit card.

This has never happened in the past & the nasty little **** was adamant that it was non negotiable !.

Do you phone every month to pay the bill?
    That's a bit annoying isn't it, surely a DD isn't that bad.

Good point - I was spending 3-4€ every time ringing the robbing *****, I'm glad I'm not dealing with some smart-arse anymore by switching to dd.

3 months in a row they took €25 too much each month & I had real grief getting it back so cancelled the DD.

Their timing is very bad as I was considering getting a FTV PVR. Now do I give them €150 & carry on paying a fortune every month or use the €150 as half of the cost of a Humax !

Just to update Sky now want the existing bill paid + 2 months in advance. This is a new policy implemented on the 1st of July for anyone who's service is disconnected.

So Sky want €235 & a Humax is €300 - This choice is getting even easier.

Why did they take €25 too much for 3 months?

The choice is not that easy. You must set up a dd or pay your bill and two months up front. You cant give your 31 days disconnect notice while switched off. You cant even set up a dd with an irish bank account over the phone and will have to post form and still be billed while turned off. Answer is set up credit card dd, pay this months bill and give your 31 days notice. Better give your 31 days notice the day before your first dd so you'll at least get 30 days viewing. Its criminal how they treat people and irish people more so.
