    Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone could provide me with an idea of the first year timetable for DT553 Journalism at DIT? Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

Is this with a language or the pure Journo lark?

Though maybe someone with a fresher memory might be along...

Ah, there was no pure journalism in DT553 back in the day so I've no idea what you're up to in first year... unless they just scooped out the language hours but I doubt that.

Prepare for shorthand. It's painful. Best to embrace it at the start and put up with the pin pricks of pain each class rather then the broadsword to the gut that comes at the end.

    Barbara O' Shea's class is a joy (it's literature)

    Grammar is surprisingly fun.

Irish politics is a bit painful but useful.

Sociology is good if you can find your own understanding for the topics, but Stephen Ryan is one of the more academically inclined lecturers and has high standards, especially for the assignment.

Can't really remember any other courses at the mo.

It's a good course though, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. They'll soon beat the fact that "journalism isn't creative writing" into your head.
