    Hi folks

Just wondering what the consensus is on the alfa brera round these parts, specifically the almost unresellable 3.2v6?

ive always love the looks, i gather the performance isnt mind bending but not bad either, but i think i could live with it for the looks,

if i sell the z4 i could be tempted by this one, or i think they may be interested in this car plus cash for mine

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    Stunning looking car!

But make sure you take it for an extended test drive. I'd say you'd be slightly disappointed coming from the Z4. Let alone coming from the M3.

I've gone on and off them many times. At the moment I'm not really that keen on them and think that the GT is a far better looking and better all-round car.

And by the way, that particular car has been for sale for ages.

    Cyrus. Seriously. Come on.

    Leave the room now!.

Have a cold shower. Take the fiance to the restaurant with the Z in Dalkey.
Then later this evening take a walk with her.
Come back home. Get the body oil and show your fiance how good you are with your fingers.

    Have a great night.

In the morning your nightmare will be gone.

I've the 159 2.4 TI and I've just remapped it to a level close to the 3.2. Okay you don't have the engine sound, but I will be able to sell it afterwards! :D

BTW, you can also get a 2.4 Brera and remap it.

Re that Brera - the interior colour is an acquired taste, and I don't like the rear of the Brera. Each to their own...

Good advice, I'd say you'd miss the greater acceleration.

Waht are your reasons for getting out of the Z4?

If it is space, then I dont think the Brera is going to be any better. Performance wise it won't get you back to anywhere near the M3 & will certainly lose its value quicker than the Z4....

I love the look of the Brera with a passion! gorgeous! wouldnt sacrifce the performance of a Z4 for one to be honest though

    Eh?

If I'm right that car has dropped about €26k in the last 18 months or so, absolutely stunning though.

I love Alfa Romeo, but I have to say I think the Brera's an ugly, boring-looking little thing. If I were going down that road, i'd sooner an SZ. Otherwise, i'd keep the Z4.

Cyrus, there will always be someone around available to buy it from you when you decide to sell but don't expect to get a good price for it...

look on alfaowner.com though and most brera owners have the 2.4JTDm for a reason.

Wha???!!!! I've never driven one so I'll take everyones word for it that its not a great drive but my god I think it looks fantastic. Every time I see one I want one and I think thats the sign of a good Alfa, when you can forgive it all its short comings for its drop dead georgeous looks

Should I just stand against the wall to be shot now?? :D

One of us should be shot anyway - I think the last truly beautiful Alfa Romeo was the Mk1 156.

Nope, fully agree with you. There's a 3.2 parked around my home-town pretty regularly, achingly beautiful in my opinion. That 3.2 makes a fantastic noise too.

Thinks its an ugly yoke as well - GT is far nicer looking.

I remember reading about a LE edition that was reworked by prodrive for the uk market and seems to have been a huge improvement from a handling perspective. Google it maybe and check it out.

Nice car, but its no M3. Once the novelty wears off I reckon it would piss you off. Write down your reasons for disliking the Z4 after having the M3. Ask yourself - how many of these issues does the Alfa really address?

    My advice - get a balls out Caterham R500, and a 320d for 9-5 driving :)

I think it is an absolutely lovely looking car. Shame it's not supposed to be a good as you'd hope.

    I've got a 3.2 and I love it.

Last Saturday, as I'm stuck in traffic, a guy on a bicycle shouts across at me "Most beautiful car around today". Now, I have to disagree, I'd prefer a Ferrari, but in begrudging Ireland, are there many cars that get that kind of positive reaction? Sad, but it put a smile on my face for the day!:D

As for the performance, it depends on what you want really. If I wanted a quasi rally car, I'd get an Impreza, never mind an M3. But if you want something perfect for motorway driving, or handling Irish roads, the Brera is perfect.

If you go for it, enjoy it! I know you will.

An option is to bring a 3.2 to Autodelta in London. For 11,000 sterling, they'll fit a supercharger and upgrade all sorts of things that are over my head:D . You'll end up with M3 performance and Brera style.
