They say the diversion is because of road works but they have built a new road especially for busses linking corperate park 2 and ballycoolin industrial esates.
At the moment a random selection of the busses are going the old route and the new route. Someone in here rang Dublin bus and the guy at the depo said that some drivers are unaware of the change because they weren't in at the weekend.
Makes me wonder where I need to que up for the bus, inside the estate or outside.

How hard is it to put up a sign infront of the pickup point for 40D route boards?

The barrier is only working in 1 direction so the 40D can't get to Tyrrelstown and they had to turn them around. Also there is a very large que to get out of Ballycoolin. Its unbelivable how badly they can screw up the roads around ballycoolin industrial estate.

From what I heard when I was on a 40 earlier, one of the drivers was saying the plan that they had initally been told, and the one that actually happened, were different.

Again a clear case of lack of communication in Dublin Bus I would suggest.

Just to compound the issues with the 40D, there's going to be a big enough reduction of buses operating on this route from this Sunday onwards

That's an absolute joke... less than a year after they bring the new 240 into service they're scraping it?

Rang Harristown, got through to a guy who said he was an inspector there, said he's not very happy with it and it's out of their hands, and if I want to complain I should call HQ who are not answering their calls as they call the shots.

Ah but remember, people actually have to read them.... Having a notice up does not mean it will be read!

At the end of the day if a service is not working then maintaining it is rather pointless. The 240 obviously was not working out, so a decision has been made to cancel it and reinstate direct workings between the city and Toberburr.

The 40D is being cut back during off-peak hours to a 30 minute frequency and a 15 minute peak frequency. At the moment the off-peak frequency is every 20 minutes and every 14 minutes in the peak. So in peak hours the difference will be negligible. There obviously were not sufficient passengers using the service in the off-peak to maintain the service.

The resources have been redeployed onto the 40/40A service.

Thats alright if you live in finglas then, if not we are screwed.

With all due respect you are hardly "screwed".

Peak frequency on the 40D is reduced by 1 minute and off-peak by 10 minutes.

In peak periods you will not notice the difference. Off-peak it is 2 buses an hour rather than 3.

At the end of the day if sufficient numbers are not using the service then the services have to be redesigned with lower frequencies. That is the reality of the situation unfortunately.
