Ok so I finally decided to build my own pc but I need a bit of help with a few things. Here's the list of parts what I have already chosen,

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=MMEM310665

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1460491

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1664079

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1326208

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1441605

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1535609

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=MMEB100734

The first thing I need to know is are these parts compatible? Like will everything work and fit together. The other thing I need is a motherboard. I've no clue about motherboards and need one that is reasonably cheap and will work with everything else.

Also I'm trying to keep the price of all this as cheap as possible. Currently all of this costs 515. If anyone can think of ways to reduce this I would be very thankful. I would like it to cost closer to 500 with the motherboard included.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

All those links are well annoying

your dvd drive is ide and you have no motherboard

i'm sure some people will have not so nice things to say about your psu too :(

What is this to be used for btw?

There is no way you will go under 500 with a HD4870 and and an E8400 consuming 60% of the budget. i think the first important question is what kind of monitor do you have?

Well I'll be gaming at about 1280x1024

Did you intentionally go for an IDE optical drive?

    IDE vs SATA

Well I think this is an pretty close to a bare minimum gaming build for roundabout 500. (Could easily swap for Dual Core + DDR2 Boards and Mem).

Bear in mind PSU choice pretty much closes off future Graphics card upgrade so a little more cash here may be worthwhile.

I would be interested to see a similar Intel build actually. Anyway feel to critique all :P.

If you could beg borrow or steal to find an extra 50-100 to sink into the build I would recommend it.

Well it would certainly do the job at 1280x1024

Prob could even save a bit if he went with a cheaper dualie and ddr2 ram?

It might be a good thing to mention here too, the operating system!

    Op do you need one?

Why the sudden hate for HWVS?

Coming in under €460 delivered this build would leave enough chump change for a cheap 22" monitor I'm sure... and it could game quite happily at 1650*1080 to boot. Under €600 delivered with such a monitor... €610 with monitor and a better CPU (X3-720BE).

No slight intended on my part for HWVS, is just harder for me to fit in a screenshot from there, while keeping text visible to the naked eye, on my teeny laptop screen. I was even going to mention to shop around I swear! :D

EDIT: And I wouldn't have though it would shave as much as 70 off the price, fair play.
