I've been wondering a while now about when college officially begins for DCU. I know different colleges have different days, but when is DCU's? Or does it depend on the course/type of course?

Do we have to go to orientation - I was hoping to spend that week working?

you don't *have* to go to a lot at third level, but you really really should. If you're doing any business course it's a week long programme, for the others it's 2 days. I can't understate how much you'll miss if you don't go, in information, finding your way around, making friends. It's really not smart to miss it at all.

If you can make it, GO!

Orientation week is brilliant, got to know some of my good friends due to just sitting in the old bar during that week and Freshers week :)

It's worth missing a few punt over, IMHO!

Thanks for the schudule actually, really helpful.

Can I ask what is Lock and Key Night?

Also, it says you have to collect cards and stuff. But I'm doing the Communications course (hopefully =P) and it says I don't have to be in until Wednesday, will they do all the same stuff just in two different groups? Or does everybody have to be in on Monday?

    Thank youuuuuuuu!

After you either accept the course or register (can't remember which), you'll be sent an information pack with all the information about orientation week :)

I'm a 2nd year and I'm even going into orientation week for the craic we had last year!

A lock and key night as far a I know is a night when all the lads get a padlock and all the girls get a key and you have to go around chatting to people and try match up your lock and key... i presume theres some sort of prize... and you might even pull ;)
