Are certain tyre brands noiser than others?

I have vredestein sporttrac on the front and wanli on the back. From about 40-60mph there is a loud hum and a small amount of vibration. At lower and higher speeds than quoted it is much quieter.
I thought it could have been the wheel bearings but surely the noise would be at all speeds.
Could the tyres be making the noise?

Yes the could the more worn the get the noisier the will be,are the a low profile tyre? lower profile tyres would be louder in general.

A few years a go i switched from one goodyear model to another and the difference in noise was remarkable with the newer model being a lot quieter.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the brand though, but mostly with thread pattern and to some degree with the rubber mixture.

Some tyres can be noisier than others as said above but the fact that you're getting vibration and only in a set speed range suggests that your wheels need balancing.
