jumping in on the 10th

In the club I am a member of we have the online booking system that a lot of clubs now have but the problem I have is even though most members stick to the tee sheet, on a weekday a lot of people just turn up and go to the 10th tee if they (a) havent booked a time (b) there is a queue on the first. Now within the last year the committee in their infinite wisdom sacked the ranger/starter who only worked weekends and now the juniors are starting to run amok by jumping in ahead. The committee are aware of this but since most of the juniors are the kids of said committee. My grief is that I pay full membership, play every competition(amam, classic fundraisers etc) and all I get is back chat from young lads and parents sayin that the kids are the future of the club. Well they may be but they had start paying full membership cause there wont be many members left to put up with this. Any more boardies getting this sort of treatment.

/me gets in before the backlash against your anti-youth campaign.

    Run..run now.

Are they holding up play? Do they assume that when they finish the 18th they can come back around to the 1st and have priority?

I am all for the young playing golf but what i am annoyed with is the fact that they think cause their parents are on the committee they think they have the run of the place also the fact that people not just the young members jump in and yes they do hold you up. Last wednesday for instance myself and 2 members played the front nine in 1 hour and 45 mins at a nice pace then half way down the ninth we spot 6 people 3 young and 3 older member standing on the 10th tee. We were the first on the time sheet and so we should of had a clear run of the course and we didnt have anyone behind us for 3 holes at the start. After playing the 11th we had caught up and then had groups comin up behind us. Now we had to keep up with the group ahead which wasnt a problem but the group behind could only see us and took it that we were the reason for slow play. Had the others not jumped in i am sure we could of finished without any group having to wait just behind us. Again I am not against the youth but just that some people dont stick to the timesheet

Were they holding you up or were you just keeping up with them? If you were keeping up then you are obliged to let the people behind through as they were faster. If the cutters were holding you up then they are obliged to let you through.

Surely your club just has to put a sign up on the tenth tee stating that the 9th must be clear from tee to green before you are allowed tee off on the 10th??

Also I know how these golfers would be treated in my club if they came around to the first expecting priority.

They would be politely told to fuck off:D

Thats an absolute disgrace. There is no need to talk to people in that manner for the thing they did!

No matter what the circumstances I would never talk to someone politely after they did that.

My old club, you could only start on the 10th if the 9th was free from tee to green, anyone who ignored this rule would routinely be told in no uncertain terms they were in the wrong. Especially juniors...
As for people thinking they have priority on the 1st after already playing 18 - well unless they were playing the final of the club matchplay and were tied after 18, no way lol! :D Now that would get a laugh on the tee box...

actually in my club all matches have priority on the 1st tee if they are playing their 19th. They also have priority on the tee if the tee is just being used for casual golf.

Im not sure if this comes from randa or just the course rules. Cant find anything on randa.org

    How's that done then?
I'm constantly getting into trouble for telling people to f@ck off. Maybe if I did it more politely I'd be alright.

On topic, the clear 9th hole rule would seem to be the way to go. Regarding priority on the 1st, if they teed off on the 10th because the timesheet was full then there's obviously no room on the 1st for them. They can go home.

    Sounds trollish to me.
    Which club is this then?

How is that even slightly trollish goose?

If you read the rest of the thread you would see that this is the general opinion of most of the golfing boardsies.

If golfers start on the tenth tee in a competition where alternating start is not permitted then they have absolutely no right to jump in in front of players who are on the sheet and queuing up on the first.

Then again if you had a clue about golf then you would know this.

    I reckon you're the troll.

If you post such pointless drivel like where you talk about telling people to Foff, which in all honesty has no worth whatsoever other than to cause offense (my personal definition of trolling) then I can only imagine what you're like on the golf course.

Yes I'm newish to golf, I've never claimed otherwise, but calling me names is, well just childish.

All I'd like to know is which club this is so I can avoid it, because of the likes of you tbh.
And I don't think you should speak for other on the boards, they seem intelligent and able to speak for themselves perhaps.
Apologies if I caused offense to anyone else, I didn't mean to but his response has annoyed me as to me it is a bit rude and ignorant.

When did I call you names?I think you'll find that I did no such thing.

I don't know how you can find me saying that somebody else would be told to fuck off for doing something ignorant, rude and wrong on a golf course offensive, I didn't say it to you.

I wasn't speaking for anybody else on boards, you can read their posts for yourself can't you?

All I said was the majority of posters on this thread agreed with me.

Basically, all I am saying is that this whole business of cutting in on the tenth in a competition is a no-no, and I make no bones about saying that somebody who tried to cut in ahead of me on the first having come off the 18th would get short shrift from me and 99% of the members of various clubs that I know.

What about people skipping holes playing casual evening golf. Cutting onto a fairway or tee as another group are about to tee off or putt out on the previous geen. That bs sickens me.
I dont mind the odd route or joining on the tenth or wherever as long as you dont affect people who have the hole already and play at a reasonable pace.
