    which would you go for i would prefer a manual but cant be got for love nor money

    I don't know if the 530 would be all the nice in manual - have you tried one yet?

    Overall, I prefer the 5 series, but I've not driven the 330d which I'd say is a cracking engine to drive.

    How much mileage do you do annually? If you're doing enough,the MPG differences between the two cars might make a difference, but that might be balanced out if the 330d is more expensive to buy.

    really depends on the spec, any links to the 2 cars in question?

    530i = 231bhp
    330d = 184bhp but with tons of torques!

    both 3.0 litre cars so both will be relatively tough to sell on, maybe the 330d would sell that little bit better!

    i would look for a 530d imo

    When it come to selling them on, most buyers will want a auto with an engine that size, even though not the "drivers" transmission of choice, it is in keeping with the character of the car as a motorway cruser.

    I'd prefer the 530i, it's petrol and I was never a big fan of the E46 myself. I think manual transmission would ruin either car.
