Jaguar Warranty Problem

    Hi Guys

Have a warranty issue with a car (Jaguar) that is still under manufacturers warranty but our local dealer in cork (Drive Motor Group) has closed down contacted the importer in Dublin but they were most unhelpful, they wanted me to take the car to them and leave it to them (they will not give a replacement car while they carry out the work) get the train or something back to cork and collect it from them when it is sorted.
Surely its up to them to arrange the collection if its under warranty
These guys could not be more unhelpful contacted the SIMI but they tell me i am my own they only deal with dealers and not importers and Jaguar Ireland are not a member of the SIMI so no joy there

Any ideas on how to approach this, don't want to have to take the car to Dublin and lose 2 days in work and there is only 2 months left on the warranty

    Thanks

    Dawna

You can take the car to any Jag dealer but from Jag Website there's only 3 though. Is it an X-Type? They might be able to arrange that you can bring it to a Ford garage maybe? There's another dealer in Wexford but you'd be quicker heading to Dublin from Cork. Approaching the dealer directly should get you a loan car though

Contact jag ireland directly and see what you can arrange through them

Jaguar Ireland, Arena Road, Sandyford Business Park, Dublin 18.

I'd try to avoid Spirit Motors if i were you. Nothing but trouble.

I'd try to get it into Bolands in Wexford, or Bradleys in Galway. I'd love to help out, but seen as me oul lad got laid off from Jag in Wexford, I dunno where to point you.

    I would avoid Spirit though.

I've never heard of a courtesy car not being provided for warranty work. Have you tried your nearest dealer?

That is a disgrace if true, and a joke for a premium brand, even if it is an X-Type. If I was a potential Jag customer I'd be off to the BMW/Merc showrooms.

As said get on to jaguar directly, i had a problem with my x-type(2 years old at the time), broken pulley in the engine. Rang jaguar direct who arranged a tow truck to collect the car and offered a courtsy car while the work was being carried out.

See, this is the problem with buying a Jaguar now.

With Drive gone, Spirit being absolutely useless to deal with, and Bolands and Bradleys at opposite ends of the country, where do you go if you have a problem? Unless you live in the south east or the west, I wouldnt be buying a Jag, for the exact reason this thread started.
On the other hand, no dealer will be looking to take on a new franchise, particularly one that involves a lot of money tied up in stock, and potentially a new showroom.

Try Bradleys in Galway. 091-770909. They may be able to arrange to do the work on a Saturday.

I've been dealing with them for some sales and all service for several years, and I've always found them excellent.

On the Jaguar side of things, their main mechanic is the guy who has won the Jaguar Worldwide top technicians competition twice in a row, and is the current holder of the title.

I know it's a long trip up, but you may be able to combine it with a weekend away to Galway. Alternatively, if you have AA cover or breakdown assist with your insurance, you may be able to get it towed up, and get a courtesy car as part of your breakdown policy.

No he contacted the "importer in Dublin", i assumed that this meant the car was imported used from the UK. Maybe i took that up wrong.
My point was that when i had a problem and the car was under warrenty i could not have been treated better by Jaguar, maybe though with new ownership things have changed.
