I really thought I passed on my second attempt, but I missed it by one point. When he brought me back to the test centre, he said he'd bring me inside to give me my test result, so I knew then I hadn't passed. If you pass, do they tell you in the car? Or do they always say that?

I passed first time and the guy didn't tell me in the car! I had to go into the office thing and sign something!

I failed once and passed once, both times I was brought into the office and sitting down in front of the desk before I was told the result.

The second time, when I passed, he really dragged it out - he was there typing away for ages first, then started chatting about the weather etc - before finally saying, "Well I suppose you might want to know how you got on. What do you think yourself? You were a bit close to those cars coming down x road, weren't you? And you shifted up to second gear a bit early a couple of times, not a great habit to get into ..." I was convinced I'd failed until he finally told me I'd passed, best feeling ever :D

Normal procedure is being brought back to the test centre. hard luck on not getting it.

i did mine 5 times and i work in the building with the driving test centre in it. did it 4 times there. failed mby 1 mark the fist time, 3 marks the second time and progressivly worse from then on.

then on the 5th time i did it with the new testers at the nct centre in the same town. passed and only got 1 minor mark. so much for consistincy

Yes, they bring you back to the office to inform you regardless of whether you have passed of failed.

As said, they bring you back to the office to give you the result. Regardless of whether it's a pass or a fail.

I was brought inside for to get my result too... Donegalfella gave good reasons for that and on top It makes it more professional to bring you inside... I suppose testers have got the opposite too where some dirty big hairy Neanderthal man tried to give him / her a kiss for passing him :D

Yep, I was brought back inside after mine aswell. I even asked him just after leaving the the car 'So, is it good news or bad?'. He said 'Have to wait till we get inside'. Inside, when he pulled out the big book of competency certs and started filling it in I knew I was ok. He said congratulations, shook my hand and that was it.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Couldn't you imagine some psycho attacking the examiner out in the car if the news was bad? Seems like a better idea to give the result inside.

none of them ever told me anything in the car. they always tell you the bad/good news inside. when i finally passed it i was sure i failed the last time as well before he told me the good news

If they told you you've passed in the car and told you you've failed in the test centre then the second they say 'follow me into the centre and I'll get your results' you would know you'd failed.. leading to the 'disappointed candidate attacking the person who's just failed them in the car' scenario they're trying to avoid!

Also as far as I know they sit the person down, go and print the results or fail cert/pass cert, then tell you.

As an aside, my friend was failed by SGS and found their closure great comfort as she felt the tester was getting his 'just desserts' for failing her.

Tell your friend that they were on a fixed contract for a specific purpose. They weren't 'closed'. ;)

When I passed I was sure I failed... I was driving down a straight road and he kept marking something on a piece of paper which he was covering with another piece of paper!

When we got into the centre he asked me to sign something, and I remember my friend telling me she was asked to sign something before she was told she passed, so I was racking my brains trying to think if I had to sign anything the times I failed...

Then he told me I passed! Never found out what the marking was about

I was brought into the centre and left sitting at the testers desk while he went off to print my result. He announced on his way back in before sitting down that I had passed and congratulated me and shook my hand, i could have hugged the guy!
