    Hi All,
I thought I better Pass this on,
Speaking to a firearms officer a friend of mine was told that he was lucky he didn`t have a pistol, that within the next month the minister is going to instruct the powers that be to start removing all pistols from circulation, I.E. revoking our current licenses, I Know this is 3rd hand info, but the person who told me this, I trust with my life.
And to be honest it`s just the sort of backhanded stunt this minister would try, to show Joe Public (no offense meant) that he is cracking down on gun crime.
Now I don`t know about the rest of You but I`m mad as hell to think that this tosser is gonna take away the only bit of enjoyment that I have at the moment in the current climate,
I am going tomoro morning to my local Politician to voice my concern

Ronin, you have been following the legislative stuff since 2004, right?
Or are you just voicing your concern now, after five years of folks pointing out the problem arising?
Not to mention, a firearms officer is not going to be in the loop with the Minister, any more than your local parish priest knows what the Pope had for breakfast this morning.

To be fair to the original poster, if the decision has already been made to revoke pistol licenses, then the news will have to be passed down the chain to the local FAOs who will carry out the work of getting them all.

Not saying that is what's happened as I am not 1) the minister or 2) a FAO but it's possible.

The OP last posted on this forum when the Minister made his statement in November about banning pistols.

Since then, the Minister has made a number of statements, has published a bill to carry out his threat, had that bill passed into law, commenced the bill and set in train the process by which it will all happen.

All widely reported in the press, television and especially here and on NGB websites.

    :confused::confused::confused:

I am not as informed as most people here, as i`m relatively new to the sport, all i wanted to do was pass on some info that i`d received, the fao had only received this information very recently and is in strong disagreement with the policy, but has no choice but to follow orders.
what you do with the info is entirely up to you, but having been approved for the last couple of years for my licenses, I`ll be buggered if they`re gonna turn around and tell me now that i`m not fit to hold one

If it ever came to that you can join a club up North. Still no bother getting semi-auto fullbore pistols and full bore revolvers licenced up the road.

    So far.

What's the betting that they take a look down here at some stage and like what they see?

its quite possible ronin as the DOJ do not want the sport shooters of ireland with pistols and will try every under handed way they think of to get them out of circulation.

despite what some know all's say ,unless they in the loop of course .
