I've always been sort-of interested in art (mainly drawing, sketching, painting etc) used to do a lot of it when I was younger and have always been told I'm good at it. I sort of gave this up (tried art in first year but hated the teacher so I dropped it :P) and instead stuck to writing, as I'm now thinking of getting a book I've just finished published. Anyways, since the LC ended I've been thinking of starting drawing and painting again as a hobby. Trouble is I'm not really sure where to begin, I'd like to get some proper instruction on it and I was wondering are there any good books/videos that I could learn from? I'm mainly interested in the whole drawing/painting aspect of art as I'd like to illustrate some of my writings. And also just draw for the fun of it.

So if anyone's got any suggestions on how I could begin, good books etc I'd appreciate it :)

    Thanx

I would second this query, although I would be starting from scratch, really. I did Art for the LC, but really didn't like it and hence didn't give it any of my time.

If you have the time to spare a night course is a great way to get back into the swing of it... you'd learn a lot more at one than from a book and it really helps to have the time put aside to do some work.... i think there's a site - nightcourses.com which gives you all the info nationwide.

a good night class is your best bet. a book can't teach you to look again at a certain area or advise you. the main thing is practice practice practice.
