Ok so i have always had problems with my IT band on my right leg. Physio last year said that eventually i would be wise to invest in orthotics but for the time been a shoe with an arch along with knee strengthening exercises and foam rolling would be helpful.

and all the above was. but now that im running longer distances then iv ever ran no amount of foam rolling and stretching is getting as good results as before.

I have said enough is enough. I can't keep training for DCM in fear that ill get injured and have now decided that im am going to get orthotics asap.

I have been tipped about a place in ennis where they analyze your gait and make orthotics. Anyone have experience with them? Or anywhere in Limerick city that anybody can reccommend for them?

I went to a physio called Damien Mordan down near steamboat quay. Very good, cleared up trouble in knee/ITBL band. He should be able to recommend any further treatment you'll need.

Without naming any names I'm pretty sure I know the man from Ennis that you have been recommended, simply because for some reason he is recommended by a lot of people in the region.

Everyone I have ever heard of that has gone to him has been prescribed (very expensive) orthotics and the results from people have been very mixed. Some people swear by them, some dont. Mine are in the back of the press for last few years as I found them not at all practicle - bulky and ill fitting for the majority of my foot wear.

I visitied another physio the following year and he recommended orthotics from Boots!!! As they we only 30€ I chanced them and have found they really helped.

Didn't really want to get into this side of the thread, but one of my mates went to him and came away worse than before. He's never been able to get back running and was considerably out of pocket. Buyer beware I guess.

I've been using the Boots orthotics for the last few weeks, and they are certainly relieving the symptoms very well for me. They are very neat, I just put them inside my socks. I think it's time to visit a physio though, as the problem hasn't gone away completely.

Also went here a few years back and have had no problem since, got mine for €170 back in the day, ended up loosing them in america and I just rang up and they had my footscan on computer so i was able to order a new set without actually going in. very handy. they fit into all my shoes, basically they are light plastic insoles and slip in and out of shores/runners

I think they've closed down unfortunately. I got orthotics from them in 2006 and replacements last August as I lost the originals. But I've tried to contact them since and their website is gone and no answer to the phone number. Pity as they were good.

There's a new place on O'Connell Street, at the corner with Cruises St, near HMV, which are a chain ?Footsolutions maybe? but I don't know anything about them.
