best bet would be to ask them, also check with your travel insurar on their terrorism policy, also check with the dept of foreign affairs on their travel advise

going to the Balearics as well later in the summer, the thought of these attacks by ETA did enter my head, but not going to let it concern me too much unless the goverment say its not safe to travel

Usually when something like this happens and when you have booked with a travel agent, if the destination is unsafe due to unforeseen circumstances they will alter your travelling plans or cancel them completely. Here's a link to their terms and conditions:

If I were you, I'd ring them and see what they can do if you're unsure about travelling.

Thanks a million you guys!! Yeah I'll try that link now! I haven't told teh kids yet about the bomb (They knew about the other one) as I dont want to scare them! It's really awful, been saving all year for this! Does anyone know if budget is open on Sundays? Thanks a million you guys! It was just a pure shock when I heard the news a few mins ago, I didn't think they'd hit the same place twice! The bombers must be still in the country! :(

The bombers must be still in the country

Well as they're Spanish nationals (albeit ones who don't want to be), I'd imagine they would be.

ETA and various other groups have been involved in terrorist attacks in Spain for many years. However, millions of people travel to Spain every year and pretty much all of them return unmaimed etc.

Remember how many bombs the IRA were planting in the UK just a few years ago. Life didn't stop and people just had to keep living.

Sometimes we tend to fear what we should not really fear. As someone else said, you're probably more likely to come to grief on the way to the airport..

Imagine that. I'm sure there's no IRA heads still living on this island...

was thinking the exact same thing, ETA are currently marking their 50th anniversary, and have actully had a cease fire for the last few, not sure if these recent attacks are to celebrate this. people get on with their holidays, day to day life, the same as people traveled to and from and around london and n ireland during the IRAs last campaign

their attacks on the Balearics are very rare OP, their usally confined to the main land, and even at that, its been a while i think since their last attack

as said before, check with your operator if unsure

Just watched the BBC news there seems to have been 5 or 6 bombs, they still have to find 2! I see one was in a hotel! the other in a bar front resturant, not too sure where the other was .. I really hope budget will change our destination.. I'm sure it must be a high risk zone now!? I don't even mind paying a few bob extra if I have to.. It's just going to be up to budget travel now to see if they will help us! I've been looking through my insurance but haven't seen anything.. Does anyone know if there is a Budget Travel hotline?? Thank you all soo much for your help!

The news today sounds dramatic and the bomb that killed the two Guardia Civil a couple of weeks ago was very real but according to the spanish newspapers today's bombs were little more than bangers that made a lot of noise and didn't do any damage at all. The aim of this is to scare tourists and damage the economy. As someone said further up the thread, you're more likely to be hurt in a car accident with a crazy spanish driver. Relax and enjoy your holidays.

Going to Magaluf for a week on Thursday and am also a little anxious, it's tough not to be. Going to wait and see what happens over the next few days and hope for the best. Booked seperate flights and hotel online so wont be getting money back if the worst came to the worst!!

Exactly, a lot more people will be killed by traffic accidents than bombs in Spain this summer.
This is way down the list of what you should realisticly be worried about.

wouldnt be worried atall, they gave prewarnings before the bombs went off, clearly aimed at publicity plus i would imagine security will now be high for the rest of the summer. ETA dont want to kill tourists, maybe political figures or goverment bodies such as police etc etc. Enjoy your holiday!
