Cheap gaming Laptop

If that includes VAT then it is indeed very cheap compared to other Asus sellers. Seems like a nice laptop, although note that the screen res is kind of low for a 17", just 1440x900. 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 are more common on 17"-ers these days.

Edit - A google of the model number shows it has a RRP of around €1299 in Germany, so they are still cheap, but not 'miles cheap'. Still seems like a nice laptop.

Also, does it have a German keyboard (if such a thing exists..?)

Well i don't know about you but having a German keyboard layout like this:
    KB_Germany.svg
Would be a mighty pain in the ass if you're used to touch typing on a "regular" layout.

EGIT: hmmmm svg images and boards don't go well together, it's a qwertz keyboard!

It's not too hard to get a laptop which can do some decent gaming.

Mine wasn't even made for gaming and it can run Mirror's Edge on Medium/High on native 1440x900 at a steady 40fps.

It doesn't count unless it can run Crysis at supa kawaii settings.

Well some of those shifty foreigners have different keyboard layouts. QWERTZ instead of QWERTY etc. It would really mess you up for touchtyping, and you could change it in the language bar but then you'd never find any of the symbols.

Was just saying/asking about it is all, I don't know the exact ins and outs :pac:

That medion one is very cheap alright, what would the quality be like i wonder??
Realise the resolution isn't the greatest but its really between the asus one and the msi for a gaming laptop under 1500e. The msi has a better resolution but i have a asus already and like the brand, plus its still 200 euro cheaper!

hey, sorry to commender the post a little, but my boyfriends decided he wants to get a laptop for his birthday which he can play games on and just wondering it's possible to get a decent enough one for under a grand? All the ones i've seen are so expensive!
Just wondering if this one is any good:
    http://www.alienware.com/products/M17-notebook.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-M17&Subcode=SKU-DEFAULT

Any advice as to what i should be looking for would be greatly appriciated!
    Thank you!!!

Gaming laptops are a disaster ,in fact in my opinion anything much bigger than a netbook is pointless. The power brick/block on a 17inch gaming laptop will be bigger and perhaps heavier than a netbook!!!They MUST be used sitting at a table...For the cost you would get a FAR better desktop PC .If you are planning to use them on battery power alone forget it ....at best it will last an hour or so and at worst quite likely it will slow down dramatically to save battery life-maybe making gaming actually impossible ...
That Alienware M17 'might' be 999 US dollars but it will be a LOT over 1000 euro...
Gaming laptops as I see it are only worth considering for people who move house a lot ...student/commuters etc

Hi, my sister bought a Samaung laptop off them last week and the keyboard was a different layout. i.e. non-qwerty and the semi-colon and a few other things in different places, also Page up/down etc. are German. They're taking it back no problem which is great. Just if your still thinkin of getting the original one.
