The luas from Stephens Green could be an option, there is a stop right outside the Dudrum shopping centre, and one further down.

Does it need to be a bus?

I know the 14 does anyway, and a couple of others, you can check this by going to dublinbus.ie and putting dundrum in the place search field.

By far the handiest way to get from town to dundrum is the Luas from Stephens Green though.

    edit:

The 44 and 48a are the most direct.

The 14 and 14a operate via Ballinteer but are more frequent.

The 14, 14A and 48a all operate from Parnell Square East and serve a stop on Upper O'Connell Street and D'Olier Street, with the 14/14a serving Nassau Street and Kildare Street, and the 48a operating via Townsend Street, Westland Row, and Merrion Square.

The 44 starts at Townsend Street and follows the 48a routing above.

All of the buses serve St Stephen's Green East and Earlsfort Terrace (albeit from different stops).
