    Hi there

Im thinking of buying a house in an area called Abbey Drive off the Navan Road and have a few questions about the area.

Is Dublin 7 Cabra or is there an area referred to as the "Navan Road"? All the estate agents call it Navan Road but I thought D7 was Cabra. Does anyone know what the area is like? The house is at the bottom of Abbey Drive but is there a quicker way to walk to the Navan Road than going the long way around and back up Kinvara Avenue?

One last question, is there also a quick way to get to Ashtoen train station, or again, would I have to walk the very long way round!

    Thanks for any replies

It's not Cabra, though geographically it's not far from there. The only access to it by car is from Navan Road. It seems to be a nice enough area, never heard any complaints about it anyway.
You could indeed walk through Ashington and across the football pitches to get to the station. Might be a bit mucky in the winter though.

As for a quick way back to the Navan Road, I'm not sure of that. Most new estates are designed to have one entrance/exit (cuts down on through traffic), and I think that area is the same. As far as I remember, you cant drive though into Kempton (you can on foot) so that only leaves the Kinvara Ave entrance (or you could skip down through kinvara pk to the Breffni Inn entrance, though it mightnt make a whole heap of difference)

Dublin 7 is a number of areas, Cabra, Phisborough, Navan rd, Ashington etc. Kinvara Ave is the only way to get out of the area also, unless your good a climbing walls.

    Hey OP
The 122 runs up the main road in Ashington and its closer than Ashtown station, but if you are willing to climb the backwalls of Ashington you can get to Broombridge station even quicker :D

I haven't jumped over too many walls recently I'm afraid!

Looks like a good bit of walking involved so. From looking at google maps, dont think I can get to those pitches thru some of the estates in order to get to Ashtown station or am I missing something?!

TBH the walk aint bad. The avenue walk can be done in about 5-10 mins depending on speed.

If you own a bike OP cycle to Ashtown and lock it up there. Should be grand for the day.

    Cheers for all the replies!

I usually cycle to work in IFSC but would be handy to get train odd evening if woring late or its its very wet over the winter.
might take a trip out during to week and do some exploring!

Riverstown Abbey is most definitely part of the "Navan Road" area.
Navan Road is an area in Dublin in its own right.
