I've to upgrade a friends laptop ram. If you were buying in a shop in dublin, which would it be?

I went through the memory configurator on memoryc.com and the laptop takes DDR2 PC3200. Currently has 256MB so I'm looking to bump that to 1G.

Will faster ram work like it would in a desktop (but at the lower speed)? Not really used to upgrading laptop ram tbh.

Generally speaking I dont like to recommend PC World but for a bricks and mortar store they will probably have it in stock and be the cheapest around. Why not order it from MemoryC? Theres also MyMemory.co.uk - free delivery, and a few other online sotres that would be cheaper (generally) although there is the waiting period for delivery.
Regarding the faster ram, I'd stick to what it mentions as being compatible. I've had hit and miss outcomes with using faster ram than was originally installed.

Nice one, cheers. Good to know that about the different speeds (I was looking at ram on adverts). Wouldn't have thought twice about the higher spec for a desktop. Anyway...

Brick and mortar because she doesn't have a credit card and I've just maxed mine out with a poxy oven.

normally i would say to buy the max speed 2gig stick you can afford (be handy if you get a vista laptop sometime)

but the ddr2 3200 is a funny ram....

i acquired 2x2gb sticks of pc ddr2 3200,(i didn't even know their was such a thing) and when i put them in my pc which had 1gb ddr2 6400 ram it wouldn't post, having said that maybe they are just fooked
