Help me buy an angled stem.

I decided that i need to buy a new stem with a bit of angle on it. On the new bike there is a massive drop from the seatpost to the bars and my current flexibility does not allow me to run as much as i would want on the drops. Getting some angle on the stem would give me some increased height on the bars (and it would make me less aerodynamic, but i don't mind for now). But browsing the usual suspects i found out that there are different angles out there, and i can't really visualize how much benefit each will be. I 've seen 3, 5, 6, 7, 10+ degrees stems. For example, a 10° rise, how much height will give me in cm's in a 130mm stem comparing it to a 0°?

Rise depends on stem angle, length and head tube angle.

The attached spreadsheet has a few examples (compiled for my own uses) which may help.

edit: what are you running now (stem angle and head tube angle)?

I really thought that i had a 0 rise stem, but apparently i don't! I have an FSA OS-99 130mm 6 Deg 1.1/8" and planet-x says that the head angle is 73deg on L size frame.

Would this image help at all?

So then, have you tried flipping the stem over ? That would make a 12deg difference which according to Lumens chart would be nearly a 30mm rise with a 10mm decrease in reach. Quite a lot .

Opps scratch the reach bit DOH!!!

    So, your options are:

    Flipping your current stem: +29.91mm

Using a non-flipped stem but moving somewhere in the range 6 degrees down to 0 degree will give you up to +14.48mm.

Other stem angles when flipped will give you:

    1 degree, flipped: 16.9701203223744mm
    2 degree, flipped: 19.4931495397531mm
    3 degree, flipped: 22.0466902667029mm
    4 degree, flipped: 24.6328843667006mm
    5 degree, flipped: 27.253969170667mm
    6 degree, flipped: 29.9122859193452mm
    7 degree, flipped: 32.6102889022063mm
    8 degree, flipped: 35.3505553722464mm
    9 degree, flipped: 38.1357963256586mm
    10 degree, flipped: 40.9688682463723mm
    11 degree, flipped: 43.8527859280888mm
    12 degree, flipped: 46.7907365009566mm
    13 degree, flipped: 49.7860948067479mm
    14 degree, flipped: 52.8424402856794mm
    15 degree, flipped: 55.9635755603092mm
    16 degree, flipped: 59.153546927773mm
    17 degree, flipped: 62.4166670016121mm

    ...and so on.

Note: I haven't compensated for reach.
