    Sister whatever her name is.

If you are referencing her in the speech you would call her "Sister". However, you don't need to give her a mention when opening the speech..... she is just a regular guest.......

Unless she is the guest of honour?

No, not a guest of honour, just thought that as the Priest gets a mention in the introduction then maybe any of the religious needed to be mentioned also.

    By no means.

Address her as Sister if you are mentioning her, but if she is just a guest, with no particular role in the ceremony, then there is no need to single her out.

If you are referencing her, what her actual name, and her name affiliated with the sister x may not be same. The old school way was for nuns to take names of saints etc. I have had aunts who are nuns (5 still living), and what we call them, is not the same as their name within the order.

However, as she is only a guest, same as anyone else, I would not single her out.

You can call her Betty if she calls you Al! :-)

I think that quote alone qualifies it. Made me smile on a rainy day. :)

If you are refererencing her for a particular reason address her as Sister X

eg. "A lot of Y's family have travelled a long way to be here: His Uncle, Sean has come from America, his Aunt, Sister Mary came from England"

    Or

"A lot of Y's family have travelled a long way to be here: Thanks to his Uncle Sean coming from New York and his Aunt, Sister Mary coming from England"

IMO there is no need to make reference to her from the religious/mentioning the priest perspective. I would only mention her if you want to mention something in relation to her specifically (eg. Y is delighted his aunt, Sister Mary is here because.........)

    Hope this helps!

I'm sure she'd be thrilled if you mentioned her though, espcially if she traveled a long way.

    But the bigger question is.........

Will the nun have to "cover her plate"!
