    Hello,
I have set up a remote computer which I wish to be able to access and control from whereever I wish.
The computer is connected to the internet by 3Pay with a dongle (just used Mobile Internet 1gb offer to trial).
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to give any sort of static ip and I can't connect to the IP provided when I look it up..

All ports open on this side and on machine's side for RDP.
Is it possible that the 1GB mobile internet option block this service? I will get the full PAYG mobile "broadband" 15gig service if it solves it.
    Is 02, Vodafone the same?

    Many thanks!

Personally I'd recommend this website, saved me alot of hassle as it does all the work for you:

    www.logmein.com

You just install a small program on the target machine and away you go.

Just pick the free account and you can remote control upto 5 computers, no matter where you are.

Logmein is a much better option. Everyone on Three shares a single IP address, so I doubt you will get that working. You have no firewall and no NAT protection doing what you're doing, your remote PC is wide open to the Internet.

Even then, a 3G connection will not stay live permanently, it will need periodic re-connection. So as a remote control method, this is very unreliable, and I'd be surprised if your connection stayed up for more than 24 hours.

    Thanks for the help guys!

Looked at logmein but assumed similar problems. Client is a web browser/ java app through standard port 80?

The 3g connection is a temporary solution. Awaiting DSL

YOu can setup OpenVPN on port 80 :)

Use router to change to what ever port & Server/PC on the remote LAN.

Then use MS RDP or VNC or whatever you like via the VPN
