Waxing hair on upper lip

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in Facial Hair & Hats :D I have some light hair on my upper lip and i'm thinking about getting it waxed. My OH thinks i'm crazy, cos it really is quite faint, but I feel quite conscious about it. I have never had facial hair waxed before, does it grow back courser than it was originally? I don't want to make it worse by waxing. I presume it lasts 4-6 weeks like body waxing?

It doesn't grow back courer and lasts 4-6 weeks depending on the individual's hair growth. Personally I prefer threading. It lasts as long as waxing but you're not putting hot wax on sensitive skin and pulling it off which over time stretches the skin.

Thank you! That's interesting about threading, I thought it was only for eyebrows. My main worry was about it growing back courser, I had visions of having a black stubble like a man

Like you OP I also had light hair on upper lip, got it waxed because it bothered me and I'm so sorry that I did because it now grows back darker (not necessarily coarser), so try something else first if you can.

If it grows back coarser then something's gone wrong in the waxing process, you should only have soft smooth edged baby hairs growing back from scratch, obviously with time they'll be big ones again like prior to waxing but should be tiny and soft at first.

Nope, threading can be done anywhere. Also, the regrowth is very soft and not at all like stubble. I get my eyebrows and upper lip done every 6 weeks or so and am delighted with the results.

There is really no reason for them growing back darker or coarser. You are weakening the hair follicle every time you wax so the hair should be lighter rather than coarser if anything.

The only way the new hair could be darker than before is if it was the original hair was bleached before the wax either naturally from the sun or through a bleaching treatment.
