Thoughts on going long

Over the years I have always been drawn towards long distance endurance stuff.
I have dabbled with long distance open water swimming, ironman triathlons and recently biked solo across Oz

I often joke about the Matt Talbot syndrom of having to be hard on myself to feel good. All that catholic Irish stuff.

Reading through the posts and training blogs here, once again I am captivated by ultra's, MdeS etc

    Any thoughts

I don't "go" very fast so I have to go long. Not very philosophical I'm afraid.
