    Applying in person

The Passport Offices in Dublin and Cork are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. These Offices normally provide provides a 10 day issuing service. However, if you find that you have left your application late and require a passport in less than 10 days you must apply in person to the Dublin or Cork Office. In such cases it is important that your application is correct and that you also bring proof of travel, eg internet booking or travel tickets. Depending on the urgency an additional Urgent Processing fee may be payable.

Please note - If you have lost your passport or are a first time applicant you must allow 10 working days for the issue of your passport as all such applications must be thoroughly checked before being approved.

The Dublin and Cork Offices are closed at weekends but an emergency service is available outside office hours at the telephone numbers given here. An administrative fee is charged for this emergency service.

If you have proof of travel, they can issue you with an emergency passport on the same day.

Passport office opens normal (for the civil service) office hours. Not open saturdays, save for emergencies. http://www.dfa.ie/home/index.aspx?id=254#person

    Hi

I am flying this Wednesday. I applied through passport Express on Friday the 6th of August for a new passport. I'm worrried that it will not come on time and i'm wondering what my options are? Can I go into the passport office and request that they don't send it out to me to save time? Just a bit confused any help would be appreciated.

I don't fancy your chances of getting a passport that quick through passport express, I got one last week and it took 8 working days.

    Hi All,
A friend of mine is travelling to France on Tuesday. Her passport was robbed last night, so now has no passport. Can she go into the passport office and get one issued on the day? If so, what documentation does she need?

    Many thanks.

She needs to march in there first monday with a confirmed reservation. Signed photo etc, and hope for the best. I know when I got my passport all over 9 years ago I went in a few days before I was due to leave and it was issued that day. Might be a meaner if the passport was lost not really sure. Someone I know lost their passport twice. Because of their dopeyness their reissue was only for two year. Hope it all works out for your friend.

Folks, if you can't be bothered to do a search of the forum, could you at least scan the threads. Three similar threads on the first page of the forum about the same thing!

    I've merged them all.
