    Ok im wathcing to do a road trip around europe and looking to rent a car for about 14 days

    Ive called a few companies about colelcting in Italy and dropping back to Holland and the price for not returning to same pick location is €800

    does anyone know a good car rental co?

    As far as I know most of the car rental companies are effectively operated on national lines as franchises or equivalent. While it mightn't cost too much to pick up in Rome and drop in Milan (within country) if you're dropping a few countries away then Hertz Italy (or whichever company) will have to arrange with Hertz Netherlands to get their car back all that way, so it's going to cost a bit.

    It's not like Hertz Netherlands can just hang on to the car belonging to Hertz Italy - it ultimately has to be returned.

    Unfortunately I can't think of any usefull suggestions for you on this front.

    You mean one that doesn't change a one-way drop-off fee between 2 different countries?

    I really don't think that such a thing exists. When you drop it off the car will have to be driven back to where you originally rented it.
